Hillcrest Lutheran Academy led 33-32 at the half on Friday night, however, Parkers Prairie came back to defeat the Comets by the score of 65-52.

“We jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the first few minutes and only trailed for about 2 minutes at the end of the 1st half,” said Hillcrest Head Coach Ryan Garvin. “We hung on to a 33-32 lead at halftime despite having Micah Foss and Thomas Zwiers on the bench the last 10 and 8 minutes, respectively, with 3 fouls each. Again, fouls plagued us. Our bench played well enough to keep us in it and with the lead going into half.  The beginning of the second half was another story with Parkers coming out with their own 8-0 run and we never regained our composure long enough to fight our way back into it. We settled for a lot of unassisted attempts and we let our offense dictate how we were going to play defense. The Warriors made some great adjustments against our defense and our rotations didn't come quick enough. Parkers Prairie, despite losing a key piece on Thursday night, is going to be a tough team to beat the rest of the way.  They are well coached and great at executing their plan.”

Foss led Hillcrest with 16 points, Zwiers added 13 and Sam Brumfield contributed a dozen.  Evan Gould had a team high 3 assists.

For Parkers Prairie, Micah Arens scored 19, Spencer Yohnke had 10, Josh Helling finished with 9 and Florian Koep added 8.

Hillcrest (4-8) will be in action on Tuesday night at home against C-G-B.

Parkers Prairie (12-3) will play on Monday night in Wadena.
