The Perham Yellowjackets trailed 34-31 at halftime Thursday night in Pelican Rapids, however, Perham came back with 44 second half points while holding the Vikings to 34.  Perham recorded a 75-68 Heart O’ Lakes Conference victory, improving their season record to 12-0 and their HOL mark to 5-0.  The loss was the third in a row for the Vikings who are now 10-6 overall and 3-3 in the conference.

Perham was led by Charlie Rasmussen with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists, Elijah Morris with 16 points and 13 rebounds and Finn Diggins with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists.  Gunnar Anderson added 9 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists.  The Yellowjackets connected on 53.4% (31-58) of their field goal attempts and shot 41 (7-17) from 3-point range.

Four Vikings finished in double figures, led by McHale Korf with 16 and Jayden Rutherford with 13.  Liam Sytsma added a dozen and Logan Fahje contributed 10.  Sytsma had a team high 10 rebounds.

“We played a solid first half as we were able to start fast with a 7-0 run to begin the game and then closed the half with a 12-2 run to go into halftime with a three point lead,” recalled Pelican Rapids Head Coach John Gullingsrud.  “We scored the first four points of the second half to push the lead to seven, but our focus and intensity on the defensive end wasn’t where it needed to be in the second half as we were unable to get some stops at key moments down the stretch.”

Perham will play at Breckenridge on Friday, January 31.

The next game for Pelican Rapids will be a road game against Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton on Tuesday, January 28.
