“What a great Little Eight Conference contest in Evansville tonight,” commented Head Coach Zach Traphagen of the Chargers. “A lot of credit goes to Battle Lake for their play tonight. Coach Marso has that group playing their tails off and they gave us all we could handle. It was physical all night long and we fortunately made some big free throws down the stretch to seal the victory. We had too many turnovers tonight and also gave up too many offensive rebounds. Great getting the win despite not playing our cleanest game.”
Leaders for the Chargers were Mikenna Pattrin (16 points, 8 rebounds) and Haddey Zastrow (10 points). Kristen Kokett pulled down six rebounds for B-E.
Brandon-Evansville shot 42% (15-35) from the field and made 40% (6-15) of their three-point attempts.
Leaders for Battle Lake were Ady Tysdal and Makenna Tysdal with 12 and 10 points, respectively. Grace VanErp and Halie Johnson both had 8 points.
“I was really proud of how hard the girls worked tonight,” said Battle Lake Head Coach David Marso. “Their effort was strong from start to finish. The Chargers are a solid team and Pattrin was a force inside.”
The Chargers (10-5, 6-0 LEC) will host Underwood on Tuesday night in another conference game.
Battle Lake (5-8, 3-4 LEC) will host Parkers Prairie on Tuesday night.
