Christofer Morales lit it up from three point range, making 9-of-15 shots from beyond the arc on the way to a 38 point performance for Minnesota West, who connected on 39.3% (11-28) of their treys on the night.  Overall they hit 47.5% (29-61) of their shots from the floor.  Xavier Dixon and Emmanuel Akot added 12 points each and Akot completed a double-double by grabbing 11 rebounds.  Jacquez Stoudemire contributed 10 points and 8 rebounds off the bench.  The Blue Jays dominated the boards, 46-26.

Alend Alemadi poured in 33 points to lead the Spartans.  Alemadi made 11-of-22 field goal attempts and 7-of-9 from the free throw line.  Renell Edwards provided 15 points and 8 assists off the bench.  Alex Hendricks came through with 12 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists, and Jonas Baune chipped in with 10 points.  The Spartans shot 46% (29-63) for the game and made 43% (13-30) of their 3’s.  They also went 15-of-21 (71%) from the foul line.

“Minnesota West started out well and held the lead the whole game,” noted Spartan Head Coach Shawn Sorenson.  “It was a hard fought game and I’m very proud of how resilient our team was.  Our size disadvantage and their offensive rebounds turned out to be a big factor in the game and Morales played a great game for them.  We had the ball down two points with eleven seconds left, but we were unable to score at the end.”

M State will travel to Austin Sunday for a 3:00pm Southern Division contest against Riverland Community College.  The game was originally scheduled for Saturday but was changed due to the impending storm.
