“Defensively, we played extremely well, probably the best we have played team defense all year,” stated Underwood Head Coach Brian Hovland. “Offensively, we were able to run the floor and did a nice job of finding the open player for easy looks.”
Leaders for the Rockets were Brooke Hovland (14 points, 4 rebounds, 6 steals), Liz Lukken (13 points, 6 rebounds) and Ally Johnson (10 points, 6 rebounds). Kayla Rocholl added 9 points, 6 rebounds and 2 steals, and Josey Bugbee distributed 4 assists and came away with 6 rebounds.
Grace VanErp, Makenna Tysdal and Halie Johnson scored 6 points each.
"The Rocket defensive pressure was relentless all night,” commented Battle Lake Head Coach David Marso. “We just couldn't handle it and they turned that defense into early offense. They definitely came more ready to play than we did."
Underwood has won three straight games and improves their season record to 6-5. They will host Rothsay on Friday night.
Battle Lake (3-8) had their two game winning streak snapped. They will try to bounce back when they play Friday night at Hillcrest Lutheran Academy in Fergus Falls.
