Vikings Defeat Spartans with Late Surge

Itasca Community College finished strong on Saturday as they defeated M state by the score of 81-78.  The loss puts the Spartans at 6-7 on the season.

 

Itasca made 41.3% (26-63) of their field goal attempts and 12-of-36 (33%) from 3-point land.  Tri’Mel Charlton scored 21 points, had 5 steals and pulled in 4 rebounds to lead Itasca.  Daniele Ricard added 14 points, 4 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals, Josh Reams contributed 14 points off the bench and Deidrich Kemp had 11 points and 5 rebounds.

M State shot 46.8% (29-62) from the floor.  They were led by Alend Alemadi with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Jonas Baune had a double-double with 14 points and 11 boards.  Nic Pearson connected for 13 points and Renell Edwards also contributed a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

The Spartans will begin Southern Division play with a home game on Wednesday against Anoka-Ramsey Community College.
