Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal outscored Hillcrest Lutheran Academy by an 11-3 margin in overtime on Saturday to post a 75-66 victory over the Comets.

“This was a great game tonight,” said Hillcrest Head Coach Ryan Garvin.  “Our guys came out and played hard tonight.  They showed a lot of guts tonight and it’s a great way to start the New Year!  We jumped out to a 32-30 halftime lead thanks to 10 points from Ev Gould and 7 from Thomas Zwiers.”

Zwiers led the Comets with 22 points, Gould added 17, Joel Quam contributed 11, Micah Foss 10 and Sam Brumfield scored 9 points.  Foss dished out 6 assists and Zeke Ihrke had 4.  Zwiers had 7 rebounds and Quam grabbed 6.

“We carried the same energy we had in the first half into the second half and finished tied at 63 at the end of regulation play, unfortunately, starters Sam Brumfield and Evan Gould fouled in regulation and overtime, respectively,” said Coach Garvin.  “We couldn’t get enough stops and ultimately, had 17 turnovers in the game, some of those down the stretch, gave away some scoring opportunities.”

Broden Lien scored a game high 35 points for the Titans.  Morgan Stueness and Parker Lien finished with 12 points each.

The Comets (0-4) will start on a stretch of seven straight road games and nine of their next ten away from home when they travel to Wheaton on Monday night, Brandon-Evansville on Tuesday and Underwood on Thursday.
