Isaac Young struck early for the Otters as he converted a Michael DeBrito pass at 2:59 of the opening period. Warroad pulled even on a goal by Owen Meeker, assisted by Grant Slukynsky at 9:12. Less than a minute later Jayson Shaugabay gave the visitors a 2-1 lead with assists from Blake Norris and Luke Johnson.
Young’s second goal of the game made it 2-2 at the 58 second mark of the second period. DeBrito and Colton Partain assisted on the goal. Carson Reed put Warroad back on top at 4:41, with an assist from Shaugabay, and Slukynsky’s goal from Meeker a 7:49 gave the Warriors a 4-2 lead.
Warroad added a penalty shot by Anthony Foster at 1:57 of the third and a second goal from Foster at 13:44, assisted by Shaugabay.
Ian Stumbo was busy in the Fergus Falls net, making 39 saves. Jack Orchard stopped 16 of the 18 Fergus Falls shots on goal.
The Otters (5-9) will host Crookston at 1:00pm Saturday.
