Underwood used extreme defensive pressure to help secure a 71-29 victory over Hillcrest Lutheran Academy in Little Eight Conference girls’ basketball on Friday night in Fergus Falls.

“Solid team effort tonight,” said Underwood Head Coach Brian Hovland.  “We were able to turn our defensive intensity into offensive points. I thought we did a great job of running the floor and pushing the ball with the pass.”

Leaders for the Rockets were Brooke Hovland with 25 points on 9-of-13 (69%) shooting, and Kayla Rocholl with 19 points.  Hovland came up with 10 steals and had 4 rebounds.  Rocholl added 4 rebounds, 4 steals and 2 assists.  Liz Lukken had a team high 6 rebounds and also blocked two shots.

Hillcrest was led by Mackenzie Foss (14 pts, 4 rebounds), Madison Foss (4 pts, 2 assists) and Anna Rasmussen (4 pts, 6 rebounds).

“We really struggled against Underwood’s defensive pressure,” stated Hillcrest Head Coach Hannah Clark. “We had multiple turnovers that led to easy buckets for the Rockets. Mackenzie Foss did a nice job attacking the basket and getting to the free throw line.”

Underwood (4-5) will host Ortonville at 2:30pm Saturday.

Hillcrest (0-4) will play at Rothsay on Tuesday night.
