Brandon-Evansville beat Kimball on Friday night 50-25 and lost to Mora in the championship game of the Kimball Tournament 65-53 on Saturday night.

On Friday the Chargers took a 22-12 lead over the host team and outscored them 28-13 over the final 18 minutes.  B-E made six 3’s in the game and were led in scoring by Marshall Riedel and Titus Fuller with 16 and 11 points, respectively.

In the championship game, Cole Steffen scored 13 of his game high 20 points in the first half and Mora took a 38-22 halftime lead.  Tanner Bitzan led Brandon-Evansville with 15 points.  He was followed by Titus Fuller with 13 and Marshall Riedel with 10.  The Chargers buried seven 3’s in the contest, but Mora also made seven shots from behind the arc and outscored B-E 10-4 on the free throw line.

“I thought we played our tails off for the past 3 days on long road trips,” stated B-E Head Coach Trent Hintermeister. “I'm proud of our efforts and improvement through the first month of the season. We have a 2 week break before we play again, and it will be good to heal our bodies. Saturday night was a difficult situation to play in with the circumstances going on in our community. B/E students really care about each other, and when something terrible happens it affects us all. I was proud of our resiliency. Sometimes there are more important things in life than basketball.”

Brandon-Evansville (6-2) is off until Tuesday, January 7 when they will host Hillcrest Lutheran Academy in a Little Eight Conference contest.
