Michael DeBrito’s power play goal at 2:30 of overtime lifted the Fergus Falls boys’ hockey team to a 3-2 victory in Hutchinson on Saturday afternoon.  The goal was assisted by Kaden Peterson.  Goalie Ben Swanson turned away 26 shots on goal and the Otters put 21 shots on the Hutchinson net.

The two teams played a scoreless first period, but Sterling Andrews got the Otters on the board just 1:36 into the second period with an assist from Logan Schake.  Hutchinson responded with two goals just 1:25 apart to take a 2-1 lead.  Tristan Hoppe scored on the power play from Cam Longie and Hayden Jensen at 7:54 and Austin Jozwick scored at 9:19, from Brady Knorr.

Ethan Danner’s unassisted goal at 16:59 of the third period sent the game to overtime.

“Ben had a great game for us in the net,” said Head Coach Mike Donaghue of Fergus Falls.  “DeBrito’s game winner came on a great shot to the short side of the goal and the line of Andrews, Schake and Danner did a great job today.”

Fergus Falls will play New Ulm on Thursday at 7:00pm in the first round of their Holiday Classic.
