The Osakis Silverstreaks, the #10 ranked team in the state in Class AA held on for a 64-59 win over the the #8 ranked team in the state in Class A, the West Central Area Knights.

After leading 20-17, the Silverstreaks ended the first half on a 12-6 run to take a 32-23 lead into the half.  The Knights came out firing in the second half quickly cutting the lead to 32-29.  All-State guard Daniel Savegau was clutch every time Osakis needed a bucket as he hit big shot after big shot to answer the Knights.  The Knights would cut into the lead again at 43-47 and had it at 59-62 with 26 seconds to play but could never get the lead.

Knight Coach Kraig Hunter said, "We told the kids we weren't coming here just to play close. Even though they were disappointed with the final score, the coaches told them we were very proud of their grit and determination.  Playing in front of a tough home crowd on their floor against a team that's only had two losses in two years and for how many tough shots they hit, we always responded and were right there with a chance at the end.  Osakis is a great team and this was a great test for us.  We can take a lot of positives away from this.  We held a pretty good rebounding advantage in the second half and had our season low turnovers in a half with only three in the second half against a pretty stellar defense.  It shows us that it is pretty obvious if we rebound and take care of the ball, we can be pretty good."

The Knights hit 22-44 shots for 50% and 7-17 threes for 41%. Osakis hit 47% from the field (22-47) and 10-17 threes for 37%.  The Knights made 8-12 free throws and the Streaks made 10-12.  The teams ended up tied in the rebounding battle 26-26.  The Knights had 10 total turnovers and the Streaks 4.

The Streaks Daniel Savegau scored 24 points, Luke Imdieke 14, Bauer Klimek 8, Kobe Lara 7, Luke Stalloch 6, Carter Grove 3, and Brady Mages 2.

Gage Staples led a balanced Knight attack with 13 points and 5 rebounds; Jacob Bright had 12 points, 4 assists, and a steal; Jack VanKempen had 11 points, 12 rebounds, 5 blocked shots, 2 assists, and a steal; Grant Beuckens had a good all-around game with 9 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists; Tate Christenson had 7 points and 3 assists; Blake Koloski 5 points and an assist, Ryder Staples 2 points, and Brady Reeve had 1 rebound.

The Knights now 4-1 will take on Warroad at 2:30 pm on Friday December, 27th in the Pelican Rapids holiday tournament.  Osakis remains undefeated at 7-0and will play in the Granite City Classic against Rocori on the 27th.
