B/W Blades Trounce Panthers 6-1

The Breckenridge/Wahpeton boys’ hockey team put 40 shots on goal, resulting in six goals and a 6-1 victory over Park Rapids on Tuesday night.

Avery Rugland notched the first goal at 11:31 of the opening period, assisted by Isaac Wohlers.

A pair of Thomas Withuski goals 37 seconds apart in the second period increased the Blades lead to 3-0.  Wohlers and Jase Jensen assisted on Withuski’s first goal, a power play goal, and Carson Hought earned an assist on his second goal.  Brayden Wahl’s unassisted goal at 12:31 put the score at 4-0 and at 15:33 Jensen scored from Jared Aamold, giving Breckenridge/Wahpeton a 5-0 lead.

The final goal for the Blades was scored by Wohlers on the power play with assists from James Finkral and Jensen at the 6:32 mark of the third.  Park Rapids scored their only goal of the game at 8:10 of the third period as Nash Mitchell found the back of the net from Joey Hillukka.

Jared Aamold stopped 17 Park Rapids shots on goal and Ben Strandle stopped 34 Breckenridge/Wahpeton shots.
