Breckenridge won the rebounding battle 32-22 on Thursday night as the Cowgirls defeated the Underwood Rockets 63-50 in a high school girls’ basketball game in Breckenridge.

“We played really well at times,” said Underwood Head Coach Brian Hovland.  “Josey Bugbee and Liz Lukken gave a real nice spark in the first half on both ends of the floor.  Both teams were cold from behind the arc.  This game came down to rebounding and Breckenridge killed us with their offensive rebounds and put-backs.”

The Rockets shot just 33% (18-53) from the floor and made only 3-of-15 (20%) 3-pointers.

The Cowgirls were 22-of-62 (35%) from the field and also hit 20% (5-24) of their 3’s.

Underwood (2-4) has lost four straight games.  They will participate in the Pelican Rapids Holiday Tournament next Friday and Saturday, starting with a 4:15 game Friday against West Central Area.

Breckenridge (4-4) is also in the Pelican Rapids Tournament and the Cowgirls will face NCE/Ulen-Hitterdal at 12:45pm Friday in the opening round.
