The Rothsay boys basketball team hosted Little Eight Conference opponent Brandon-Evansville Thursday night and the Chargers came away with a 41-39 victory.

“It was a great Little Eight Conference matchup.  Both teams played really hard and really competed,” commented Rothsay Head Coach Taylor Fuhs.  “Brandon-Evansville made a bunch of plays the last minute of the game to come out on top.  I credit our guys for playing really hard, we were down 10 at one point in the second half and battled all the way back to get a lead, but just could make a play to finish it, but I love how hard our kids played tonight.”

Rothsay was led by Tanner Heier with 19 points and 5 rebounds, and Ethan Curtis with 6 points, 8 rebounds.

“We were bad tonight,” said Brandon-Evansville Head Coach Trent Hintermeister. “We shot poorly, turned it over and did things defensively that were out of character. Rothsay never quit, they ran good stuff on offense and kept us on our toes all night. Time to adjust and get ready for a good Kimball team tomorrow.”

Leaders for the Chargers were Keagan Schiele with 15 points and Tanner Bitzan with 11.
