Jordan O’Kane came up with 33 saves, including 4 in overtime, as the Alexandria Cardinals skated to a 1-1 tie with Mound Westonka at the Thaler Hockey Arena in Mound on Saturday afternoon. Alexandria put 35 shots on goal, but Fauna Hoganson-Near stopped 34 of them for the home team.
Mound Westonka took a 1-0 lead on an unassisted goal by Gretta Pioske at 8:24 of the first period.
The second period was scoreless, but the Cardinals evened the score on a goal by Ella Johnston at 7:46 of the third. The goal was assisted by Mayson Toft.
The 1-1 tie followed a scoreless overtime tie with River Lakes on Thursday night in a game that saw the Cardinals outshoot the Stars, 25-22. Hailee Bailey was stellar in goal for Alexandria.
Alexandria (6-1-2) will play at St. Cloud on Tuesday and at Fergus Falls on Thursday.
