Wheaton/Herman-Norcross played host to Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley in a high school boys basketball contest on Saturday afternoon and the Warriors posted an 80-56 victory over the Wolverines.

The Warriors were led by Matt Thielen with 26 points and Clint Determan with 21 points and 9 rebounds.  Michael Franzese added 15 points and 5 boards.  Dylan Bainbridge dished out 10 assists and Zach Braaten had 4 blocked shots to go along with 3 steals, 6 points and 6 rebounds.  They made 33-of-63 (52%) field goal attempts and hit 9-of-20 (45%) from beyond the arc.

The Wolverines were led by 23 points and 5 assists from Cole Gilsdorf. Chuck Kleindl added 14 points and 5 rebounds, Ryan Geary had 10 points, 5 rebounds and 2 steals, Isaac Hansen led the team with 10 boards and Nate Moberg had 4 assists.

“I thought we played really well in the first half and shot the ball really well,” stated C-G-B Head Coach Ethan Pearson. “We started off hot in the second half to get back within 3 after being down 8 at halftime.  Wheaton picked up the defensive intensity and we got a little flustered on the offensive end of the floor. We gave up a big run defensively where their posts scored about 6 layups in a row.  We are a very young team and are continuing to improve in different game situations! I’m happy with the way we are playing together and shooting the ball! Next week we have a busy week playing two games in Hankinson, ND, and we get Ortonville at home for our conference home opener!”
