The West Central Area Knights boys’ basketball team came out on top of a battle with the Hancock Owls in Barrett on Thursday night 53-43.  The Knights outscored the Owls 35-24 in the second half after the Owls led 19-18 at the half.

"We played a much better second half," said Knight Coach Kraig Hunter. "In the first half, we were a little too pumped up and did not shoot the ball well and played a little too fast. Hancock is a good team with many good athletes.  Their kids played extremely hard."

The Knights used good balance again in scoring. Jacob Bright had 12 points, Jack VanKempen 11, Gage Staples 11, Grant Beuckens 10, Tate Christenson 6, and Blake Koloski 3. Christenson was the rebounding leader with 6 with Beuckens and VanKempen grabbing 5 each.  Christenson and Bright each had 4 steals and 3 assists.

Matt Thompson led the Owls with 16 points and 14 rebounds, Preston Rohloff had 7 points, Isaac Nienhaus 7 points, John Kellenberger had 5 points and 13 rebounds, Adam Shaw 5 points, and Daniel Milander 3 points, 9 steals and 6 assists.
