‎ It was opening night for the Menahga boys in their new gym and on their new floor Tuesday night.  Bertha-Hewitt was the visiting team and the Braves opened up a 43-15 halftime lead on the way to a convincing 75-31 victory.

“I wanted us to come out and make a statement,” said Menahga Head Coach Zach Kaiser. “We played well and our pressure caused some problems for Bertha coming right out. Tristan Aho scored our first 9 points of the game on his way to 16 for the night. We were tipping a lot of passes. One of our goals this year was to use our athleticism to tip more passes and create more turnovers. We had 20 deflections, which caused 14 steals, however, we also had 19 turnovers, which we want to keep in the single digits or low teens. It was nice to have Jonah Howard playing significant minutes, as he is still recovering from an injury from the first week of practice. He added 10 points and 8 rebounds in 19 minutes of time. We're hoping to get him more involved as he recovers. Freshman Brock Berttunen continues to grow on the offensive end and contribute on the defensive end and the glass. We have to use this momentum and prepare for Friday's game in Mills against a young, talented, well coached squad.”

The Braves were led by Tristan Aho (16 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 steals), Wade Berttunen (15 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals), Charlie Hodge (13 points), Jonah Howard (10 points, 8 rebounds) and Victor Aho (10 points).
