Otter Boys Held to Five Shots in Loss to Warriors

The Fergus Falls boys’ hockey team managed just five shots on goal Tuesday night as the Brainerd Warriors handed the Otters a 7-1 loss.  Brainerd had 39 shots on goal in the game.  The Warriors led 2-1 after one period and 3-1 after two periods, but broke the game open with four goals in the third period.

Eric Pohlkamp got the Warriors on the board at 6:23 of the first period, assisted by Mike Laber.  A Jacob Drietz goal at 11:07 was assisted by Erik Stoxen and Jaron Smith.  Fergus Falls scored their only goal of the game at 15:40 of the first period when Michael DeBrito scored, unassisted.

A second period goal by Eli Roberts gave Brainerd a 3-1 lead.  Drietz and Pohlkamp both earned assists on the goal.

In the third period Stoxen scored from Drietz at 3:39, Ian Aadland scored a shorthanded goal from Christian Kadolph at 7:13, Laber then scored from Kadolph at 9:13 and Drietz notched the final goal at 10:39 from Smith.

Scott VanVoorhis stopped 32 Brainerd shots on goal.

The Otters (2-4) will host Willmar on Thursday night.
