The halftime score was 33-25 Barnesville. The Trojans led 33-18 late in the half, but the Cowboys rattled off seven straight points to end the half.
“We had a size advantage and won the rebounding battle, 36-29,” reported Barnesville Assistant Coach Tracy Hinsz. “We were able to have some success pounding the ball inside. They brought pressure the whole game and I thought our kids played really well.”
Barnesville was led by Adam Tonsfeldt (25 points, 8 assists, 9 steals), Hunter Zenzen (16 points, 19 rebounds) and Kaden Zenzen (15 points, 5 rebounds).
Leading scorers for the Cowboys were Jonah Christensen with 16 and Tyson Piechowski with 10. Christensen also added 11 rebounds and 4 assists.
"We played a tough early season game against a very good section opponent and played a very strong game throughout,” noted Breckenridge Assistant Coach Derek Grahn. “We have things to work on, but as a young team, we are focused on continual improvement through the year. On Friday, we travel to Perham and look forward to seeing a lot of green in the stands."
Barnesville will host Pelican Rapids on Friday night.
