Northland Community College handed M State a 72-64 loss on Tuesday night in Fergus Falls, completing a sweep of the two game series between the two teams. The Pioneers led 36-29 at the half and shot 41.7% (25-60) from the field, including 40% (10-25) from beyond the arc.
Zack Meyer led the visitors with 23 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Bakri Gubara added 19 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists, Deng Kuor came off the bench to score 13 points and Brenson Alterne just missed a double-double with 11 points and 9 boards.
M State struggled from 3-point range, making just 6-of-26 treys. They shot 40% (24-60) in the game. Jonas Baune scored 12 points and pulled down six rebounds, Renell Edwards had 12 points and 6 assists, and Zakaria Zaid added 13 points and 8 rebounds. Nic Pearson distributed 4 assists and came up with 6 boards.
The Spartans will travel to play the Mayville State JV team next Tuesday night, and will host the Concordia JV team on Thursday, December 5 at M State in Fergus Falls.
