The Hillcrest girls’ basketball team started their season on Friday night with a 66-23 loss to Heritage Christian Academy.

“We had a tough matchup for our first game,” acknowledged Head Coach Hannah Clark, now in her third year at Hillcrest.  “Heritage Christian Academy is an athletic, well-coached team.  They ran the floor extremely well and had players that could score in every position.  Their length gave us problems the entire game.  We had a tough time moving the ball around the perimeter and I felt that we rushed a lot of our shots.”

Heritage Christian Academy placed four players in double digits, led by Kirstin Robbins (15), Jordyn Allen (14) and Katie Smith (13).  Taylor Shuck added 10 points.

Hillcrest was led by Mackenzie Foss with 12 points and 3 assists.  Molly McGuire chipped in with 4 points and Anna Rasmussen added 3.

“Overall, I thought we did a good job rebounding the basketball,” said Clark.  “We looked a lot stronger in that area than we have in the past.  Mackenzie attacked the basket well and did a nice job looking for her teammates spotting up to shoot.”
