The Underwood Rockets posted a 21-6 overall record last year, finishing as Little Eight Conference runners-up with a conference mark of 10-2, and were sub-section runners-up in Section 6A.  Following that very successful season with another will be the challenge facing the Rocket girls, however, they return four starters and eighth letter winners from that team.

Seniors Kayla Rocholl (G, Captain), Ally Johnson (P, Captain) and Ceri Meech (W), along with junior Brooke Hovland (G) are the returning starters.  Other letter winners are juniors Ruby Dahlen (P) and Lydia Baker (P), and sophomores Josey Bugbee (W) and Brianna Evavold (G).

Head Coach Brian Hovland is in his sixteenth year as Head Coach and he is enjoying strong numbers throughout the program.  Sophomore Amber Frigaard (G), freshmen Moraes Bugbee (G), Alayna Evavold (P), Jorja Gabrielson (G) and Beca Johnson (G), and eighth-graders Liz Lukken (W) and Ezrah Baker (G) are all vying for varsity and JV minutes.

“We have a strong group of returners coming back,” said Hovland.  “We will be fast, with great team quickness.  We should be able to pressure teams and run the floor.  This will probably be the deepest team that I have had as a head coach.  The younger kids have done a great job getting themselves ready to play at the varsity level and I’m excited for what they will bring to this team.”

Carly Jensen will serve as an assistant coach to Hovland.

Hovland sees Parkers Prairie as the team to beat in the Little Eight Conference, with the Panthers, Ada-Borup/Norman County West, Henning and Park Christian all fighting for the Section 6A crown.
