With three returning starters the Ashby girls’ basketball team is poised to improve on their 6-19 record of a year ago, however, replacing Aanika Anderson and Josey Ness will not be easily done.

Senior captains Kalista Aamot (F) and Courtney Koefod (PG) are joined by sophomore Celi Nelson (G) as returning starters.  Koefod went over 1,000 career points last year.  Other returning letter winners are juniors Kate Jensen (C), Cailey Schlosser (F), Madeline Thompson (G/F) and McKenna Williams (PG), and sophomore Kyra Aamot (F).

Sophomore Katherine Bailey (C) and freshmen Hannah Johnson (G) and Livy Johnson (F/C) will also be competing for varsity minutes for the Arrows.

“Our strengths should be our team offense and our quickness,” commented Ashby Head Coach Alan Niemann.  “Team defense and rebounding are areas where we need to make the most improvements.”

Laura Pettit will serve as an assistant coach.

Niemann says Parkers Prairie and Underwood will be the teams to beat in the Little 8 Conference, while the Panthers and Rockets will be joined by West Central Area, C-G-B and Ada-Borup as top teams in Section 6A.
