The Otter Girls’ 10U A Hockey game opened their 2019-20 season with three contests on home ice.

First up for the Otters was Moorhead’s A squad Saturday afternoon.  Fergus Falls found the back of the net first, with Maddison Brimhall scoring in the first minute, assisted by Ella Lee and Emma Jurgens.  Just one minute later, Brimhall laced another puck past the goalie, this time unassisted.  To close the first period, Payton Wolden scored for the Otters, assisted by Anna Sem & Aubree Nelson.  After a scoreless first period, Moorhead fired back twice in the second and once more in the third.  Maggie Greenagel put the Otters back in front, but Moorhead tied it up once more.  Then, for good measure, Greenagel lit the lamp one final time to make the score 5-4.  The Spuds pulled their goalie, but the extra attacker wasn’t enough to overcome some great defense and goaltending by the Otters.  Goalie Mia Olson earned her first win of the season.

On Sunday, the triumphant Otters returned to the Arena for a double-header against the Northern Lakes Lightning.  The Prairie’s Edge squad was dominant through all 6 periods, earning two decisive shutout wins.  Scoring goals in the double-header were Brimhall (5), Averie Tonneson (3), Brinly Shol (2), Wolden (2), Greenagel (2), Sem, Nelson, Olson, Celia Smith and Kynzie Zender.  Earning assists were Greenagel (3), Evelyn Wedll (2), Brimhall, Jurgens, Sem, Zender, Nelson, Tonneson & Wolden.  Both Olson and Smith shared in the shutout wins.

The 10U A Otters remain on home ice this Saturday, where they face off against Roseau in another doubleheader.  They are coached by Josh Shol & Erik (EJ) Johnson.
