Chargers Move to 7-0 with Shutout of Warriors

The Brandon-Evansville football team held Wheaton/Herman-Norcross to 50 yards of total offense and just three first downs on Thursday night as they shutout the Warriors, 48-0.

“Fun game tonight in the elements,” said Brandon-Evansville Head Coach Tim Pattrin.  “The team handled tough conditions and played a complete game.”

Keagan Schiele got into the end zone on a one yard run to give B-E an early 6-0 lead with 9 minutes left in the opening quarter.  A six-yard run by Tanner Bitzan and a two-point conversion run by Marshall Riedel increased the lead to 14-0 at the 1:45 mark of the quarter.

Riedell’s 13 yard TD run at  5:30 of the second quarter made it 20-0 and a 27 yard TD pass from Schiele to Kyle Schaffran, followed by a Riedel two-point conversion gave the Chargers a 28-0 halftime lead.

With 9:15 remaining in the third quarter the Chargers added to their lead on a two yard run by Cade Carlson and another two-point conversion run by Riedel.  Carlson added TD runs of 2 yards at 7:30 and 74 yards at the two minute mark of the third quarter as the Chargers built their lead to 48-0 after three.

Brandon-Evansville finished with 256 rushing yards, 60 passing yards and 316 total yards in the game.  Carlson had a team high 128 yards on 10 carries and Riedel had 82 yards on 14 rushing attempts.  Schiele was 3-for-6 throwing the ball for 60 yards.  Defensive leaders were Carlson (6.5 tackles, 0.5 sacks), Bitzan (5 tackles) and Mike Cochran (3.5 tackles, 0.5 sacks).  Riedel picked off a pass for the Chargers, who forced three turnovers.

Brandon-Evansville (7-0) will host Hancock at 7:00pm Wednesday night in Brandon.
