Underwood finished 2nd in the Bronze Division of the KLN Perham Volleyball Invitational. The Rockets were defeated in Pool Play by Perham (16-25, 14-25), Thief River Falls (18-25, 19-25) and Fosston (25-27, 18-25). Underwood then beat Sebeka in the first round 2-1 (25-18, 24-26, 17-15) and lost to Henning in the Bronze division championship match 2-0 (19-25, 7-25).
“The tournament provided good competition for us and we got better as the day went on,” said Underwood Head Coach Diane Ross. “I thought we played our best match of the day against a tough Fosston team, but weren't able to close it out. I was happy to see us compete through to the end against Sebeka.”
Brooke Hovland led the offense with 26 kills, and added 2 ace serves and 32 digs, followed by Kayla Rocholl with 20 kills, 4 ace serves, and 35 digs, Shaynah Smith had 12 kills and 11 stuff blocks, Amber Frigaard, 9 assists and 30 digs, Reese Richards 66 set assists and 24 digs, Ally Johnson 19 kills, 7 stuff blocks, Jo Bugbee, 10 kills, 6 blocks, and Brianna Evavold 36/37 serving and 41 digs.
The Rockets will have a busy week traveling to Wheaton on Monday, hosting Breckenridge for PINK OUT night on Tuesday, and returning to Little 8 conference play against Rothsay on Thursday.
