The Barnesville Trojans remained unbeaten with a dominant 62-16 victory in Breckenridge on Friday night.  The Trojans scored 20 first quarter points, 21 second quarter points and 21 third quarter points to pen up a 62-8 lead after three quarters.  Breckenridge scored the only TD of the fourth quarter.  Barnesville had 444 yards rushing and 470 total yards of offense.  Breckenridge was held to 118 rushing yards and 17 yards through the air for 135 total yards.

“Felt we came out and answered the bell against a very good Breckenridge team,” said Barnesville Head Coach Bryan Strand.  “The team came out with determination and a fire and just flat out made plays.  It is a huge rivalry game and they got us last year by a point late and that hurt, we wanted to come back with a fire and a desire to come out on top.  Breckenridge has been playing some good football and I still feel they are one of the top two teams in their section, they are going to still have a great year. It was nice to get out of there with the win and the entire team played outstanding.”

Barnesville scored the first six touchdowns of the night, starting when Adam Tonsfeldt dropped a pass to Hunter Anderson who went 4 yards for the touchdown.  A missed extra point left the score at 6-0, Trojans.  Tonsfeldt then scored on a 45 yard run to make it 12-0.  Noah Krause scored on a 61 yard run and Connor Loeks took the ball into the end zone for the two-point conversion.  Tonsfeldt scored on an 8 yard run for the fourth Barnesville score.  The Trojans added a pair of second quarter TD’s when Tonsfeldt connected with Hunter Zenzen on a 9-yard scoring toss and then Tonsfeldt ran the ball in for the conversion.  The final TD of the half was a 63 yard gain by Tonsfeldt, The extra point kick was good by Nolan Ricks.

The second half started with a Breckenridge touchdown when Cooper Yaggie hit Jace Jensen on a screen pass covering 14 yards.  Chris Nieto carried the ball in for the conversion.  Barnesville answered when they returned a punt for a score.  The Barnesville defense then sacked Breckenridge quarterback Cooper Yaggie, who fumbled the ball.  An unidentified Barnesville player scooped up the fumble and raced to the end zone for the touchdown.  A Connor Morse PAT attempt was good.  Barnesville got their final TD of the game on a 42 yard run by Anderson and Maximus Olson ran the ball in for the two point conversion.

The only points of the fourth quarter came on a one yard touchdown run by Breckenridge running back Alex Sanchez.

Statistical leaders for Breckenridge/Wahpeton were Jack Aigner (8 attempts, 59 yards), Jace Jensen (1 reception, 14 yards) and Yaggie (2 completions, 10 attempts, 25 yards, TD).

“Adam Tonsfeldt had another amazing game, for the year now he is averaging over 15 yards a carry and has 14 TD's rushed, and has thrown for another 5, and oh yeah a punt return for a TD,” said Strand.  “The line has been doing much better as of late and the backs are all running hard.  We have a terrific West Central Area coming to town this week for homecoming.  They lost last week to OTC so they will be fired up to make up for that loss.  I expect a great game with them.  2 of the 3 remaining teams on our schedule have a combined one loss, we will need to continue playing well to stay atop of Section 8AA as well as the district.  Should be a fun October!”

Barnesville was led by Tonsfeldt (231 rushing yards on 7 carries, 4 TDs, 3 completions, 4 attempts, 25 yards, 2 TD passes) and Anderson (7 carries, 82 yards, TD, 1 catch, 4 yards, TD).  Defensive leaders were Jonny Robideau with a sack and a fumble recovery and Hunter Zenzen with 12 tackles.
