“After struggling on day one, we played better and put up a nice score on day two,” reported Head Coach Jason Retzlaff of the Spartans.  “We made too many mistakes in round one and limited those today.  The quality of players in this tournament was outstanding and good for our players to compete in such a competitive environment.”

M State was led by Wyatt Blomseth with a two-day total of 151 (75-76).  Trevor Dalbec had the lowest M State score of day two with a 75, finishing with a 156.  Carter Justesen had a 158 (81-77), Grant Inniger a 161 (81-80) and John Vall a 165 (86-79) to round out the scoring for M State.

“Wyatt Blomseth continues to be very consistent for us with a solid score in all four rounds this year,” noted Coach Retzlaff.  “It was great to see Trevor Dalbec play so well today, making only three bogies and shooting a 75.  It is clear he has improved from a year ago and his growing confidence will only make him better.”

On the women’s side, West Central Area graduate Lexi Poyzer shot a 96 on day two for the Spartans, finishing with a two day total of 199.

“It was great to have Lexi play in her first tournament as a Spartan and she had a very nice second round, including two chip-ins from off the green,” said Retzlaff.

The Spartans will compete next in the UM-Morris Invite at Minnewaska Golf Course on Friday at 11:00am.
