The Fergus Falls girls’ volleyball team couldn’t slow down the outside attack of 5-11 junior Elizabeth Dille, who recorded 18 kills to lead the Sartell Sabres to a 3-0 (25-15, 26-24, 25-9) victory over the Otters in a Central Lakes Conference volleyball match on Tuesday night at the Kennedy Secondary School Gold Gymnasium.
The Sabres complimented Dille with middle hitter Katelyn Hammer, another 5-11 junior, who delivered 9 kills in the match.
Leaders for Fergus Falls were Sabrina Fronning (6 kills, 12 digs, 2 aces), Jade Zierden (10 digs), Katie Strommen (4 kills, 1.5 blocks), Paige Pearson (3 kills), Logan Strom (5 digs) and Laci Strom (17 set assists, 2 aces).
“Our kids really battled with Sartell for most of the night and really had a great second set,” said Head Coach Renee Erickson. “We had our opportunities to win that set, but made some mistakes that hurt us. You can’t do that against a team as good as Sartell and hope to win. We are in a tough stretch of conference matches right now and will be tested over the next couple of weeks.”
Fergus Falls (4-6, 3-1 CLC) will host Sauk Rapids-Rice on Thursday night.
