Comet Boys Post Shutout at Crookston

The Hillcrest Boys Soccer Team defeated the Crookston Pirates at Crookston Thursday evening by the score of 5-0. 

The Comets jumped on the board early, just one minute into action, when Vetle Myntevik hit Kristian Maestad with a pass.  Kristian scored on a knuckle ball blast from 25 yards.  At the 31 minute mark, Severin Breck scored with a tap in off a pass from Jack Swelstad up the middle, ending the scoring for the half with the Comets up 2-0.  Five minutes into the second half, Kristian Maestad scored with a roller to the right corner off a throw in from Severin Breck.  At 58 minutes, Severin Breck scored of a nice pass from Hakon Hagerup.  Vetle Myntevik scored the last goal of the contest at 68 minutes, off an assist from Kristian Maestad. 

Senior Captain Zajen McArton, recorded his first Varsity shut out, stopping 11 shots on net by the Pirates.  The Comets launched 25 shots on the Pirate net during the contest.

“The Comets saw excellent defensive efforts from Senior James Cho, Senior Captain Ethan Ness, and Cole Peterson in this contest,” said Head Coach Rod Jensen.  “Stopper, Kristian Bormo, played spectacular, backing the mids, supporting both the defense and offense.  I was pleased with the efforts by the team this evening.  We made fewer mistakes and showed a lot of creativity in on our attacks.”

The Comets now 1-2, host EGF Green Wave at home on Monday.
