Kenzy Braeger converted a corner kick by Ellie Andersen with two minutes left in the first overtime on Thursday night to hand the Fergus Falls girls’ soccer team a 3-2 win over St. Cloud Apollo.

Andersen hooked a corner kick just inside the far post at the 26 minute mark of the first half to give the Otters a 1-0 lead.  Anna Anderson scored off a header after Ellie had placed a corner kick inside the box at the 35 minute mark of the second half.  With 6:45 and 6:30 left in the game Apollo scored off of two balls that were misplayed on the Otters defensive side of the field.

“The girls played hard tonight,” stated Head Coach Ben Jurgens of the Otters. “Apollo was a physical team that understood how to win 50/50 balls, but we were able to continue driving the net and earning corner kick opportunities.  Tonight we were fortunate to convert on three of them.  The girls showed heart tonight.  Losing a lead late in the game can rattle a lot of teams, but we have great leadership on this team.  The girls kept their composure and won the overtime!”
