The Ashby-Brandon-Evansville team has started the season with two good cross country meets.

“Monday, August 26 we ran in at Staples-Motley,” said Head Coach Robert Bosma. “It was a cold and rainy morning, but the attitude of the team was great. Given the situation and the conditions, I was happy with their performance. We have been struggling with athletes being sick and/or hurt, but they warmed up great and ran hard. With most of the team new to cross country this year, it was really good to just get a meet in to see where everyone was at.”

Results from that meet are as follows:
Wes Siira (Sophmore) 20:06 – 26th place
Jayden Hoidahl (Sophmore) 20:50.5 - 33rd place
Blake Merritt (senior) 21:52.5 - 45th place
Titus Fuller (Sophmore) 23:37 - 60th place
Kian Gackle (Freshman) 24:10.7 - 66th place
Nathan Anderson (Freshman) Unrecorded time - 70th place

Jr High (2.5K)
Tyler Siira 12:47 – 41st place
Donell Lee 13:07.6 – 44th place
Gavin Nicholas 13:41.4 – 52nd place

Girls:
Sophia Martin (Senior) 30:31.4 - 59th place
Lilly Evavold (Sophmore) 32:30.8 – 61st place

Jr High (2.5K)
Kiatta Korkowski 12:58.5 – 21st place
Elliana Bahls 15:07.1 – 31st place

“Our second meet was in Wadena at the Whitetail Run Golf Course,” reported Bosma. “We are still battling sickness, but most of the team ran. Compared to last year, we have made great strides with improvement. The boys’ varsity scored 5th out of 14 teams. Watching the guys run, I was really hoping to be top 5. The guys ran hard and they were determined. Each guy ran a great race and I was extremely excited about how they finished. It was disappointing that Parkers Prairie got us by 2 points to take 4th place, but their team ran really well and it will give us more motivation for next Monday in Long Prairie.”

Results from that meet are as follows:
Wes Siira (Sophmore) 19:31.4 – 20th place
