The Fergus Falls girls’ swimming and diving team placed third at the Detroit Lakes Pentathlon on Monday, scoring 147.5 points and finishing behind DL (586) and Park Rapids (231).  Fosston-Bagley (75) was fourth, followed by Thief River Falls (53), Perham/New York Mills (52) and Crookston (20.5).

“We had a fantastic first meet in Detroit Lakes against some powerhouses in our section,” remarked Fergus Falls Head Coach Joyce Monk.  “This meet gives us an opportunity to see what we have as a team coming into the new season.  Although the meet format is totally different than a sanctioned meet, it’s fun, it’s quick and it’s a great way to kick off the season.  We were extremely pleased with our performances.  Nearly 100% improved their times and that’s always a win for us.  The team has been training for 2 weeks and have proven to be very hard working with great attitudes.”

In the individual standings overall, the Otters Emilie Carlson placed third with 94 points.  Jennifer Tracy of the Lakers was first with 111 points and Evan Westrum of DL was third, scoring 99 points.

Other individuals scoring in this meet for Fergus Falls included Emma Koeckeritz, Chloe Schindler, Ashley Swanson, Aisling Cox, Alanna Keller and Brinn Donais.
