A pair of eighth-graders accounted for 3 goals and 2 assists on Saturday, leading the Fergus Falls boys’ soccer team to an 8-0 victory over the Crookston Pirates.

Shane Zierden scored three goals and Abram Ness added two assists.  Other goals came from Sterling Andrews, Andrew Starzl, Arafat Abdallah, Matthew Niblock and Patrick Sullivan.

“We started out flat in the first half and let Crookston dictate our play, even so we were up 2-0 at the half,” reported Fergus Falls Head Coach Steven Ness.  “Our young guys stepped up big for us again in this game.  In addition to the great offensive punch provided by Shane and Abram, ninth-grader Kasey Eggen kept the middle solid along with one of our captains, Matthew Niblock.  Once we had that going we were firing on all cylinders and the goals came as well.  I’m proud of another team effort with six different goal scorers.”
