The Fergus Falls girls cross country team is working with a roster of sixteen runners from seventh through twelfth grade, with only two seniors and four juniors on the squad.  The Otters will need to replace Berit Skogen who graduated last spring and is now running at Luther College, and Aspen Rohde is now running at Perham.

“We are a young team, with amazing leadership,” said veteran Head Coach Niki Welde.  “Coming off our training camp, the team camaraderie and willingness to work hard will make a difference.”

Seniors Makenna Stenstrom and Emma Rund will serve as team captains.

Juniors on the roster are Brooklyn Berge, Natalie Fransen, Sierra Hatlewick and Emily Nuss.  They are joined by sophomores Ainsley Hansen and Ellia Soydara, freshmen Mariah Fults, Karolyn Papon, Miah Schmidt and Phoenix Williams, eighth-graders Naomi Dummer, Kate Heikes and Ahlea Mouser, and seventh-grader Hannah Scharnberg.

Welde, who will be assisted by boys Head Coach Derek Meyer and Middle School Coach Josh Scharnberg, sees Willmar as the top team in the Central Lakes Conference and Section 8AA.
