The Fergus Falls girls’ soccer team scored eight goals on Friday as they whitewashed Crookston 8-0 in the Otters home opener.

The first goal came just one minute into the contest as Piper Andrews made a solo run and scored.  Three minutes later Maddie Hulter notched her first varsity goal, crashing the net on a cross from Andrews.  At the 23 minute mark, Maddie Boyd scored off a corner kick from Kenzy Braeger. At the fourteen minute mark Anna Anderson scored on a through ball from Braeger and with six minutes left in the half Anderson scored her second goal of the game from Kiara Grady.

Second half scoring started early at the 36 minute mark when Haley Kugler scored her first varsity goal from Talia Nelson.  At the seventeen minute mark Andrews scored her second of the day, unassisted.  Ellie Andersen ended the scoring at the seven minute mark with an assist from Braeger.

Svea Smestad recorded her second shutout in as many games.

“We did many things really well today and players played many positions which allows the coaching staff the opportunity to evaluate performance,” said Fergus Falls Head Coach Ben Jurgens.  “We still need to work on keeping our shape and trust each other to do their jobs and we need to talk on the field.”
