Hurricanes Collect 18 Hits in Win at Pelican Rapids

The Fergus Falls Hurricanes collected 18 hits on Friday night in Pelican Rapids as they recorded a 10-6 win over the Lakers in Countryside League action.

The Hurricanes got on the board with a pair of second inning runs.  With one out Jake Anderson tripled to right field.  Jack Hiedeman reached on an error with Anderson scoring.  An Austin Stanislawski single moved Hiedeman to third base and he scored on a base hit by Alex HexumDarin Stanislawski led off the top of the third inning with a solo home run to increased the Fergus Falls lead to 3-0.

The Hurricanes added four runs in the fourth as Jack Hiedeman led off with a double.  After two pop outs, Sean McGuire singled to drive in Hiedeman.  Thomas Bosek then singled ahead of a 3-run homer by Darin Stanislawski as the 'Canes took a 7-0 lead.  Pelican Rapids answered with three in the bottom of the fourth.  Nathan Sillerud doubled to lead off the inning and scored on an Adam Johnson home run.  Two 'Canes errors let in a third run.

Each team scored a run in the sixth with Fergus Falls getting a solo homer from Bosek and the Lakers scoring on a double by Jacob Gottenborg and a RBI single by Brian Guler.

Fergus Falls scored their final two runs in the eighth when Darin Stanislawski launched his third home run of the game, following a single by McGuire.  The Lakers scored twice in the bottom of the eighth when Nick Schermerhorn singled with one out and four consecutive walks forced in a pair of runs.

Darin Stanislawski (4-5, 3R, 3HR, 6RBI), Sean McGuire (3-5, 2R, SB, RBI), Thomas Bosek (2-6, 2R, HR, RBI) and Jack Hiedeman (3-5, 2R) were the offensive leaders for Fergus Falls.

Pelican Rapids was led by Adam Johnson (2-4, R, BB, HR, 2RBI).

Peter Gaustad (6IP, 5H, 4R, 3ER, 1BB, 8K) improved his record to 2-0.  Dan Revering (1.1IP, 0H, 0R, 3K) earned the save.

Fergus Falls will play at Bluffton on Sunday at 1:30pm.
