The Fergus Falls 15U Babe Ruth Otters traveled north on Highway 59 to take on the Detroit Lakes Lakers North team on Thursday night and scampered out of Washington Park with a 15-4 victory.

The Otters jumped out early as the top of the lineup stayed hot when Cole Zierden led off with a single and Carter Thielke doubled. Andrew Johnson reached on an error and Jonah Sorum singled all before the Lakers could record an out.  With one out, Bailey Culberson hit a sacrifice fly scoring Sorum, and 4 runs were across in favor of the visitors in the top of the first. The second inning box score put the Otters depth on display as Sam Sorum ripped a double, followed by a Taeren Holdeman single.  A Thielke single led to another run and the lead was up to 5. After a quiet third inning, a big fourth inning put the game out of reach. Singles by Zierden, Johnson, and Adam King led to 3 more runs and the route was on.

The Otters played solid defense behind the steady arm of starting pitcher Jonah Sorum, limiting Laker opportunities throughout the early innings of the game.  Sorum went a solid 3 ⅓ innings before giving way to the bullpen of Kaden Conklin 1 ⅔, Thielke 1 ⅔, and Zierden ⅓. The Otters pounded out 13 hits with three Otters registering multiple hits, King 3-4 (3RBI), Zierden 2-5, and Thielke 2-3 (2B). Six Otters notched one hit in the game, A. Johnson 1-2 (2RBI), Sully Krueger 1-2, J. Sorum 1-4, Conklin 1-1 (2RBI), S. Sorum 1-2 (2B), and Holdeman 1-3.

The 15U Otters improve to 5-1 overall and 5-0 in LRBR play.  The Otters head to DGF next Monday night in LRBR action.
