The Fergus Falls 14U softball team traveled to Fargo Monday Night for league games and came away with a split against Mayville, North Dakota, winning game one 7 - 4 and dropping the nightcap 5 - 4.

Rylynn Krein and Kacey Fredrickson combined to throw a no-hitter in game 1.  Krein pitched the first 2 innings before running into trouble in the 3rd. With no outs and bases loaded and 3 runs in Fredrickson relieved Krein.  The first batter hit a comebacker to the pitcher who got the runner out at home for the first out.  The next batter lined out to shortstop for the 2nd out and the next batter struck out to end the inning. Fergus scored one run in the 1st on a clutch hit by Grace Rollag, scored one in the 2nd on bases on balls and a wild pitch, 2 more in the 3rd with big hits from Krein and by Macie Becker to make the score 4 - 4 after 3 innings.  Fergus Falls scored the game winning runs in the bottom of the 5th with hits by Fredrickson, Madison Ballweg, Krein and Becker. Fredrickson (3IP, 6K, 0BB, 0H, 0R) was the winning pitcher.  Krein (2IP,  5K, 5BB, 4R, 2ER, 6WP) started in the circle.

Offensive leaders were Rylynn Krein (2-2, R, SB, BB, 2RBI), Becker (2-2, SB, 2RBI), Fredrickson (1-2, 2R, SB, BB) and Ballweg (1-2, 2R, BB).

Game 2 saw Fergus leading 4 -2 after 4 innings. Fredrickson started and pitched the first 4 innings, striking out eight batters, walking one, allowing four this and two unearned runs. Krein (2IP, 3K, 4BB, 0H, 3R, 0ER) came in to pitch the 5th and 6th innings.

The Fergus bats where silent the last 2 innings as they could only collect 3 hits for the whole game. Mayville managed to scratch out 3 runs in the last 2 innings by some untimely defensive miscues to pick up the 5-4 win. Offensive Leaders were Madison Ballweg (2-2, BB, RBI) and McKenzie Sjolie (1-1, HBP).

The 14U girls will be back at Mickelson Park in Fargo next Monday at 6:00pm to take on the Stingers of Fargo, taking a 2 -2 record into the contest.
