The West Central Area Boys Golf Team finished the season strong, finishing ninth out of thirteen teams at their sub-section meet on Wednesday at Eagle Creek Golf Club Course in Willmar.

Tate Christenson and Mitch Dewey led the way with 105 and 108 followed by Peyton Hanson 113, Jacob Warde 114, Devon Benson 115 and Trenton Getzlaff 117.  Coach Kraig Hunter said, "Tougher day on a course with a lot of trees for a young team, but we are looking forward to moving to Section 6A next year playing in Perham and returning our whole team."

There were ten teams competing in the Quad County conference this year.  The Knights had a young team this year and finished tenth in the first tournament followed by two ninth place finishes, three sixth place finishes and then finished the year in the top five in the conference in the last three meets including the conference championship meet.  OTC won the championship followed by Hillcrest, Underwood, Border West and WCA.  The 6-10 teams were Ortonville, Rothsay, Pillager, Long Prairie-Browerville and Ashby.

Sophomore Tate Christenson made the All-Conference team.  Tate also won the team award for Lowest Scoring Average.  Other award winners were Peyton Hanson-Rookie of the Year, Devon Benson-Most Improved, Mitch Dewey-Most Dedicated Golfer, and Trenton Getzlaff-Shining Knight Award.  Also lettering for the varsity team was Jacob Warde.

Knight Coach Kraig Hunter said, “Looking back at the year, it was successful in looking at how we improved and with the good mental attitude we played with in every meet and each day in practice.  Once again we played our best and peaked at the end of the season.”
