The #6-seeded Pelican Rapids softball team watched their 2019 season come to a close on Tuesday evening with a 9-5 loss at #3-seeded Frazee.

Frazee junior pitcher Abby Wothe went the distance (7-innings) to earn the complete game win, as she allowed 5 earned runs on 8 hits, while striking out 9 batters with no walks.  For the Vikings, eighth-grader Sylvia Pesch started in the circle.  She allowed 7 earned runs on 12 hits, while striking out 1 batter with 1 walk.

Offensively, Pelican Rapids was led by Kiera Booth (2-3, R, 2RBI), Greta Tollefson (1-3, R, 2RBI), Holly Bergquist (1-3, 2B, RBI), Vanassa Booth (1-4, R, SB), and Allison Haiby (2-3, R).  Grace Peterson made several nice plays in CF, including a spectacular diving catch to take away a Frazee hit.

With the loss, the Vikings finish their 2019 campaign with a 9-11 record and the most wins since 2006.  With only 2 seniors (Grace Peterson and Sarah Thompson) who were full-time starters, the future looks promising for Pelican Rapids.
