M State ended a four game losing streak with a double header sweep of Ridgewater Community College on Tuesday, April 30, winning 11-1 in game one and 17-6 in game two.

In the opener, Ridgewater jumped to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, however, M State answered with a run of their own on a Matt Pietsch single to tie the game at 1-1.  In the second inning, Casey Peterson hit a solo homer breaking the tie.  The Spartans notched four runs in the fifth on singles by Devin Bush and Tom Magnusson.

Levi Arnold earned the win for M State, going five innings, allowing one run on five hits, striking out five and walking zero.  Austin Stanislawski threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

The Spartans racked up 12 hits in the game.  Magnusson, Pietsch, Bush, Peterson and Jake Dykhoff each produced multiple hits.

The second game was tied at six with the Spartans batting in the bottom of the fifth when Devin Bush singled to knock in a run, breaking the tie.  Pietsch had tied the game with a bases loaded double, setting the state for Pietsch.  The Spartans ended up with 9 runs in the fifth and then scored seven more in the sixth, thanks in part to a three-run homer by Rory Drewes.

Westley Johnson (2.2IP, 0R, 1H, 4K, 0BB) was the winning pitcher, in relief of starter Mitch Porter (2.1IP, 5H, 3R, 1K).

The Spartans improved their season record to 23-16 with the sweep.
