In the win over Hillcrest, the game was tied at 9-9 in the top of the 8th inning when sophomore pitcher Holly Bergquist stepped to the plate and hit a towering, go-ahead HR to left-center field.
The Bergquist HR opened the offensive flood-gates for the Vikings, as they would tally five additional runs in the inning (with 3 more coming on a bases-clearing double by Kiera Booth) and hold on to win 15-13 over the Comets.
As a team, the Vikings pounded out a total of 18 hits, with five of them counting for extra bases. A very balanced offensive attack was led by Greta Tollefson (4-6, 2R, 4RBI, 4SB), Holly Bergquist (2-5, 2R, HR, 2RBI, 2SB), Natalie Williams (3-5, HR, 2B, 2RBI, 2SB), Kiera Booth (1-4, 2R, 2B, 3RBI, SB), Vanassa Booth (1-2, 3R, 4BB, RBI, 4SB), Grace Peterson (3-5, 2R, 2B, RBI, 2SB), Sarah Thompson (2-4, 2R, RBI, 2SB).
The last time a Pelican Rapids softball team won six games or more in a season was the 2011 season.
