A-B-E boys fifth, Girls eighth at 6A True Team Meet

The Ashby-Brandon-Evansville boys earned fifth place in Pelican Rapids at the 2019 True Team Meet with 572.5 points. The Wadena Deer Creek boy’s team won the meet with 820.5 points. The A-B-E girls placed eighth with 477.5 points. The girl’s meet was won by the Pelican Rapids team with 787.5 points. Fifteen teams participated in the meet.

“True Team is a unique meet,” commented ABE Head Coach Jennifer Froemming. “Each team chooses two athletes per event and one relay team. Each individual or relay scores points based on placing. The winning teams advance to the State Meet on May 18.”

The A-B-E team had eight boys get personal bests in nine events and the girls had ten personal bests in thirteen events.

Highlights for the boys came from Jake Rein with a fourth place finish in the high jump (5-06.00), Cade Carlson with a sixth place in the 100 meter dash (12.11), Michael Cochran with a sixth in the shot put (37-04.00) and Elijah Anderson with an eighth place in the 110 hurdles (18.17).  The 4x100 relay team was sixth (47.85) and the 4x400 relay took eighth (4:07.56).

For the girls, Cailey Schlosser was fifth (7-00.00) in the pole vault and eighth in the discus (86-01).  Aanika Anderson placed seventh in the 200 meter dash (28.41) and Catherine Koefod finished eighth in the 300 meter hurdles (52.80).
