Viking Girls Win 6A True Team Track and Field Meet

The Pelican Rapids girls track and field team won the Section 6A True Team Meet on Tuesday in Pelican Rapids.  The Vikings edged out Barnesville, scoring 787.5 points to the Trojans 778.  Osakis was third with 722.5, followed by Frazee (704.5), Wadena-Deer Creek (644), Ottertail Central (627.5), Breckenridge (483.5), Ashby/Brandon-Evansville (477.5), Bertha-Hewitt-Verndale (426), West Central Area (458), United Clay-Becker (395), United North Central (355), New York Mills (344.5), Wheaton/Herman-Norcross (169) and Browerville (71.5).

Tatianna Wiley had a banner day for the Vikings, winning the long jump (16-03.00) and placing second in the 100 meter dash (13.21) and the 200 meter dash (26.85).  The 4x400 relay team also finished second (4:18.88).

In the high jump, Riley Berg was runner-up (5-00.00) and Anna Stephenson finished fourth (4-10.00).  Adriana Torres placed second in the discus (96-00) and Abby Syverson claimed third in the 800 meter run (2:22.33) and fourth in the 1600 (5:40.88). 

In the 100 meter hurdles, Mackenzie Thornton was fourth (17.94) and Tori Stephenson fifth (18.35).  Stephenson was fifth (52.31) and Thornton sixth (52.42) in the 300 meter hurdles, and Maddie Guler placed sixth in the 400 meter dash (1:03.35).  Karina Torres was seventh in both the shot put (30-00.00) and the discus (87-01), and Chloe Paulson took fifth in the 800 (2:31.33) and placed seventh in the 1600 (5:44.09).

The Vikings 4x200 relay team was sixth (1:57.71) and the 4x100 relay team was seventh (56.24).
