The West Central Area Knights golfed on their home golf course on a sunny, but windy Tuesday, placing second as a team in the Quad County Conference meet at Tipsinah Mounds Golf Course in Elbow Lake.  Ottertail Central won the team title with a score of 408.  WCA was second with a 418, Hillcrest claimed third with a 447 and Ortonville was fourth with a 496.

Mikayla Rasset of Ortonville was the medalist with a round of 87 and Jessica St. Martin of the Knights turned in an 89 to place second.  OTC had Megan Weber (93) third and Adysen Tysdal (94) fourth, while Pillager golfers Abby Koel (95) and Bailey Knoblauch (96) finished fifth and sixth, respectively.

“The girls were quite pleased with their golfing for the most part, noting that the wind did come into play,” said West Central Area Head Coach Kari Kreft.  “Jessica St. Martin shot a fantastic 89; driving the ball well, putting consistently and giving herself good placement with nice chips.  Lexi Poyzer had a very nice 98 today.  Her putting was out of this world.  She is really golfing with new found confidence and her scores reflect this new found confidence.  Kate Wrolson was very proud of her 103 and stated that all parts of the game were strong for her today and that it was great fun.  Lexi Hunter was a newcomer to the varsity today and her debut was super solid.  She overcame initial nerves, enjoyed her group and the experience and really golfed well.  She was striking the ball very consistently with a 128.  Our fifth golfer today was Emily Courrier.  She continues to really drive the ball well and felt good about her putting today.  She rounded out the scoring with a personal best of 133.”

Rounding out the scoring for OTC were Grace Nyhus (109), Makenna Tysdal (112), Makena Kenyon (115) and Megan Hodnefield (130).

Audra Ewan and Molly McGuire led Hillcrest with scores of 103, followed by Augusta Ewan (116), Kayla Thompson (125) and Julia Adams (133).

Other Ortonville scores included a 114 from Aliyah Ash, a 125 from Sam Brown and a 170 from Taylor Ross.
