The Brandon-Evansville softball team led 9-3 after three innings and then held on for a 14-9 win over the Hancock Owls on Tuesday.  The Chargers had 17 hits in the game and capitalized on seven errors by the Owls.

“We were able to jump to an early lead tonight and hang on despite a 4th inning rally by Hancock,” commented B-E Head Coach Kasi Sieling. “Hancock hit the ball hard and put the pressure on us defensively. We were able to get the outs when we needed to tonight, but definitely have some things to clean up. Offensively, we hit the ball hard into the gaps and moved girls around efficiently. Moving forward from this game we will focus on putting together the complete game to make sound, aggressive defensive plays to back up our pitchers and execute offensively.”

Mikenna Pattrin (3.2IP, 2H, 1R, 0ER, 2BB, 1K) was solid in relief of starting pitcher Kristin Kokett (3.1IP, 9H, 8ER, 1BB, 4K).

Brandon-Evansville was led at the plate by Kokett (1-2, 3R, 2BB), Bailey Schaefer (5-6, 5R, 2 2B, RBI), Alena Shores (3-5, R, 3RBI), Maddie Otto (3-5, R) and Kaylee Bitzan (3-4, R).
