Park Rapids hosted the Panthers Invitational Girls Golf Meet on Monday at Headwaters Country Club near Park Rapids.  Detroit Lakes won the team title with a score of 326.  Perham was a distant second at 379, followed by Pequot Lakes (386), Park Rapids (390), Crookston (390), Moorhead (392), BGMR (392), Fergus Falls (397), and Bemidji, Pine River-Backus and Roseau all at 409.  Twenty-one teams participated in the event.

“The weather played another role in the meet, scores were higher than most of the coaches would have liked but the fact is the Otters need to start playing better golf if they want a chance at playing as a team in the section tournament,” reported Fergus Falls Head Coach Ben Jurgens.  “Yesterday we were beat by 3 teams in our subsection and we only take 3 to sections so we have work to do.”

Greta Christenson was the top finisher for the Otters, firing a 94 to place fourteenth.  Ellia Soydara was 24th with a 98 and Amy Johnson (98) was 28th.  Mady Eklund (107) rounded out the team scoring for the Otters.  Other scores included a 112 from Thea Eklund and a 113 from Kenzy Braeger.

Medalist honors went to Shelby Busker of Detroit Lakes with a 73.  Perham golfer Mallory Belka was second with a 78, followed by DL golfers Anna Cihak (80) and McKenna Mallow (82).  Justine Day (86) of Walker-Hackensack-Akeley and Dani Boyle (88) of Crookston rounded out the medal winners.

Other Perham scores were as follows: Allie King 94, Hope Rosen 103, Rylee Hunt 104, Olivea McDonald 109, Lexi Kunza 119.

Pelican Rapids was led by Ellie Johnson with a 103.  She was followed by Sophia Paulson (114), Jenna Stetz (116), Emma Seter (118), Jaida Simpson (125) and Mia Stewart (135).
